Scunny to Leeds

Hull City always had the rivals of Scunthorpe united, but now we have the likes of the two Sheffield clubs, and Leeds United.

We haven’t met Leeds for 16 years at Elland Road, and 1,800 of us will travel there (of our own free will) to support our City.

Although taylor has tried to play down the importance of this game, he has had to describe it as ‘massive.’

‘I don’t think it’s the biggest game of the season. Every game means a lot to us,’

‘I’m always pleased when we get to a certain standard and derbies show how far we’ve come.

‘When I first came to the club it was always Scunthorpe who were the big game but now that it’s Leeds, it’s massive. It would be fantastic to get a result there.

‘Trips to Leeds emphasise the standard we are now playing at and that’s why I think the boys are as keen to go out and play as well as they’re doing.

‘It’s great experience for every player and it’s not something that they’re about to give up easily.’

City haven’t won away since beating Coventry City, but this would be the perfect time to put it right. Leeds have only suffered two defeats at home, and City will be the underdogs.

Taylor added: ‘On paper I’ve been disappointed with our away form but when you consider who we are losing to, it’s no disgrace but a sign of how good this division is.

‘I’m being realistic and games away from home are much harder.’

Leeds have been in good form, winning 6 of the last 8, placing them third in the table and setting them for a promotion push in the second phase of the season.

Taylor says we have to have no fears, and he is right. We can’t stand of them and admire them.

‘We’ve got to go and match them in every way that we can,’ he added. ‘That means to be positive when we haven’t got the ball and do a job when we haven’t.

‘They’ve got as good a squad as any side in this league and you could argue that on paper, it’s even stronger than Reading who are top of the league.

‘Kevin Blackwell has got a very strong squad which shows how hard it’s going to be. That said, we are very capable of going there and getting an away win.’
