Staying or Going?

The team at Hull City Vital Football have put their minds to the task and here’s their opinion on who’s staying and who’s not, starting with the goalkeepers and defenders.

Each of the team has rated the players chance of staying on a scale of 0 – 5, with 0 representing ‘on the way out’ and 5 ‘Not going anywhere!’

1: Bo Myhill
mdjw_415 – The only way Boaz will be leaving is if a big money offer comes in for him during the Summer. I don’t think that will happen. He needs to produce another half season at least of top quality football to really get noticed by a premiership club.
Captainmiffymoo 0 – I hate to say it but I feel Bo will be leaving us in the summer when the big clubs come knocking. He has been a model of consistency this season and like all things in football success breeds success.
Lizzy Rose – 2 – Sadly, I think there’s a good chance Myhill could leave The Tigers come the end of the season, bigger clubs have taken an interest in him in the past, and I think, for a very good price Taylor would let him go, using the money to strengthen other areas of the squad.
Rob4 – Almost certain he’ll stay but if a big club comes calling with a certain first team spot on offer, I think Bo will have a hard decision to make.

13: Matt Duke
mdjw_415 – Unless another goalkeeper is signed, Duke is going nowhere, he is decent back-up for Boaz.
Captainmiffymoo 5 – I feel that with Myhill moving on Duke will be staying as cover for who ever Taylor brings in.
Lizzy Rose 4 – Duke, I think will stay, especially if like I believe, Myhill heads elsewhere. He’s a much improved goalkeeper from when he first arrived at City and coped well in the home game against Cardiff in December.
Rob4 – Duke has improved markedly this season, and looks a good solid backup. I can’t see anyone coming for him.

2: Mark Lynch
mdjw_413 – A bit in the middle. Unless his contract is up? I think he will only go if we get an offer from someone. I expect we will sign a right-back in the Summer so there will probably be no place for him.
Captainmiffymoo 2 – Not the best of seasons for Mark and I think P.T will allow him to leave in the summer on a free.
Lizzy Rose2 – I think Lynch will go, he hasn’t made too much of an impression since his arrival at The KC Stadium and hasn’t played since the controversial match against Crystal Palace, in which he played out of position at left back.
Rob3 – I don’t think PT will have been too impressed with Lynch’s performances so its likely he could go during the off season

3: Andy Dawson
mdjw_415 – Not a chance of him going anywhere. A great left-back and someone City must strive to keep hold of.
Captainmiffymoo5The best left back City have had for a long time, he has great defensive attributes, likes to get forward and has a killer free kick.
Lizzy Rose4 – I think Dawson will stay, he’s a more accomplished and better all round left back than Rogers. Dawson has also coped well with the challenges of The Championship and has not looked out of his depth this season.
Rob5 – Dawson has been a good left back, and goes about his job quietly but effectively. His dead ball skills would be enough to keep him at the KC.

5: Leon Cort
mdjw_414 – Very unlikely to move. Has formed a solid part of our defence. Should work well with Coles next season!
Captainmiffymoo4 – Has been the heart of the City defence now for 3 seasons and has never let us down, also good in the air, he will get us goals. But the past few games he has looked vulnerable to pace and though I don’t think he will leave he may become a squad player rather than a first team automatic.
Lizzy Rose4 – Cort, I’m almost sure will stay. He’s a reliable centre back who has been strong and consistent all season, rarely not a part of the starting 11. A definite contender for player of the year alongside Myhill.
Rob5 – In partnership with Danny Coles, Leon could form a very good barrier in the centre of the defence, so is unlikely to be going anywhere!

16: Damien Delaney
mdjw_414 – Like Cort, very unlikely to move unless a ‘big’ money offer from someone came in.
Captainmiffymoo 4 – The same comments apply to Delaney as applied to Cort.
Lizzy Rose4 – I think Delaney will stay. He looks settled at Hull and has coped well this season. He’s showed that he’s a versatile player, has played in midfield, as a centre back, and has covered left back in the absence of Dawson.
Rob4 – Damien has gone about his task well, no matter where he’s had to play. A good squad member, but I think he’s unlikely to get many starts next season. He’ll stay.

20: Alton Thelwell
mdjw_41 – 4
– I think he will prove his worth to the team in the coming months and will do enough to earn himself a new contract with the club. Would be a shame to see him go as I rate him as a player.
Captainmiffymoo – 5 –
If Alton can stay injury free I think next season we will se the best of him.
Lizzy Rose4 – I think Thelwell will stay, he’s been determined enough to come back from injury, he’s worked for free and Taylor must have his reasons for letting him stay with us. Looked good in the reserves squad and seems to have made an impression on the first team in his recent appearances.
Rob5 – Of course Alton will stay, I feel he could be next season’s starting right-back, assuming he can stay fit of course.

21: Danny Coles
mdjw_415 – May have been out with injuries but not a chance of him leaving any time soon. Will become a vital part of the team next season.
Captainmiffymoo 5 – Haven’t seen him much this season due to injury but is Taylors big hope so he will be going nowhere.
Lizzy Rose4 – I think Coles will stay, he looked good from what I saw of him early on in the season, and he’s capable of playing at Championship level.
Rob 5 – Good solid central defender who will be the backbone of the team with Leon Cort.

23: Sam Collins
mdjw_413 – In the middle. May stay but won’t play such an important role in next year’s team. Will be limited to reserve games as we have better CB’s in the squad.
Captainmiffymoo 4 – Will be a good cover player for the new look defence.
Lizzy Rose3 – Not altogether certain about Collins, on one hand I think he might have been signed in haste, a sort of temp for centre back but on the other hand, he brings the experience that City have been criticized of lacking this season.
Rob3 – Collins will be around the KC next season, but as a capable reserve to the main two. A handy squad player to have in the squad.

30: Scott Wiseman
mdjw_413 – I think City will hold onto a bright prospect. May be loaned out to gain first team experience. Not ready for our first team yet as Luton away showed.
Captainmiffymoo 5 – Great talent who Taylor rates highly, will push Thelwell for a starting place.
Lizzy Rose5 – Wiseman, I’m sure will stay. He’s got a lot of potential and I think we’ll see a lot more of him next season.
Rob4 – Next season will see Wiseman slowly get more and more experience, in 12 months time he could well be knocking on the door for the start at right-back, although he could be a useful reserve at left-back too.

31: Alan Rogers (loanee)
mdjw_412 – Don’t know the situation regarding whether he would go back to Forest now Megson has gone. Wouldn’t mind seeing him here as cover next season. Could go either way.
Captainmiffymoo 0 – Don’t think he will be staying, just a loan player.
Lizzy Rose3 – Rogers is the player I’m least sure about. He looks like a good cover for left back but it’s hard to tell with not seeing a great deal of him, especially as it doesn’t look like he’s quite back to full fitness yet.
Rob4 – I think if PT can offer him the first choice left-back place, over Andy Dawson, then Rogers will cut his losses at the City Ground and come on a permanent deal.

33: Robbie Stockdale(on loan)
mdjw_410 – GONE! As I think Darlo’ or someone will buy him (take him) off us at the end of the season. No future at this club.
Captainmiffymoo0 – Bye Bye Robbie.
Lizzy Rose0 – I’m almost sure Stockdale will go, hasn’t made an impression on City and hasn’t made an appearance at all this season.
Rob0 – Fully expect Stockdale to join Darlington during the summer on a permanent move. His time at the KC didn’t work out.

In summary, the team are in general agreement about most of the players, but there’s some interesting views on Bo Myhill and Alan Rogers. Generally it appears that the defence will be much the same next season, with perhaps one or two squad players to come in.

In a couple of weeks, the team will look at the midfield and at the forwards.
