Hull City Managing Director Nick Thompson has reiterated that the club will spend wisely this summer and not make the same errors of previous regimes when City won promotion to the Premier League.

Lessons have clearly been learnt since the era of Paul Duffen and Russell Bartlett, with Nick Thompson stating in today`s Hull Daily Mail that transfer dealings will be with thoughtful consideration and that the club will target signings for the future.

Having already seen George Boyd complete his free transfer from Peterborough United, Thompson believes the club will target six new acquisitions as Steve Bruce builds a squad capable of competing in the Premier League.

Thompson said; “I`d hope to see the first new signings going through by the middle of June, two or three weeks away.

We might work quicker or we might have to wait on certain players, but transfer deals don’t just happen.”

Although individual targets were not discussed, City are thought to be interested in Besiktas keeper Allan McGregor, who formerly played for Rangers, whilst a striker is also a top priority for the club.
