With Arsenal kicking-off the matches they’ll once again have a chance to go to the top of the Premier League table, and open up a three-point gap at the top others will look to reel in with struggling Sunderland the hosts in a match the Gunners will be red hot favourites to win.
After a win against Everton at Turf Moor Burnley head to Old Trafford to face Manchester United with the Clarets looking to get something away from home, with the home form key to survival but picking up some important away points also crucial. If this comes at United it would be a great point, if it is only a point!
Leicester need to get some Premier League momentum going, after the win against Crystal Palace they’ll head to Tottenham looking for more success. But Spurs are probably the side most would expect to push for the title, if not top four, ahead of the Foxes with that view changing if an away win can be seen.
The poor Hull form, after an impressive start, has seen them drop into the bottom three with a match at Vicarage Road likely to see Watford favoured to win, not that the Hornets will take the visitors lightly.
Manchester City’s winless run in all competitions has extended to six-matches, which is the longest run without a win Pep Guardiola has faced as a boss ahead of the match at the Hawthorns against West Brom with Tony Pulis aiming to celebrate a new deal with three-points!
Saturday’s matches round off with Christian Benteke facing his former side Liverpool when Crystal Palace host Jurgen Klopp’s in-form side in the late kick-off.
The ‘super Sunday’ matches will see Everton look for a reaction to the Burnley defeat when West Ham come to Goodison Park, with the Hammers in good form they’ll be confident enough of a result but as the home side the Toffees need the points to get back on track.
Chelsea’s League Cup involvement ended at West Ham, in a match overshadowed by the troubles off the pitch, but the Premier League form will be the main concern of Antonio Conte with his side heading to Southampton, who have had a good run of form in recent weeks after a difficult start initially under Claude Puel.
Stoke have to wait until Monday but this is a match Mark Hughes’ side will be seeking a third straight Premier League win in against Bob Bradley’s side, who have slipped into the bottom three at the expense of the Potters.
We can say it goes without saying the expectation; most definitely the hope at least, will be for a positive result.
