Who Should Fill Barmby Void

With Nick Barmby injured for the immediate future, there is a gap in the front-line that must be filled, but who is the player to do that? We asked you in our latest poll.

The clear winner with forty-eight percent was the returning Hull City striker Dean Windass. The striker was previously a midfielder during the start of his career before moving to a more advanced role.

With his age perhaps holding him down from playing as a lone striker, Deano may fit perfectly into Barmby’s playmaker role. In fact, many fans believed that was the reason manager Phil Brown chose to bring back the City star. On Saturday, after the early loss of Stephen McPhee to a hamstring injury, Deano was introduced to play in-behind a front two of Jon Parkin and Nicky Forster.

The role proved to be a success despite City only drawing the game. Twice Deano was denied a debut goal by the woodwork but there was enough there to suggest Deano should be given the starting slot against rivals Leeds United a week tomorrow.

Michael Bridges was voted in second place with twenty-two percent of the votes whilst Dean Marney came third with eighteen percent of the voting.

Bridges has struggled sine his transfer deadline day move from Carlisle United. The striker has netted twice but injury has kept him out of the team. Dean Marney also struggled on arrival at Hull but recent performances in the three man midfield have been influential in moving the Tigers up the league table.

Other results of the vote were as follows:

Daryl Duffy – 6%
Stephen McPhee – 3%
Nicky Forster – 3%

Dean Windass is expected to make his second home debut against Leeds United following the hamstring injury of Stephen McPhee. Would you like to see this happen…please tell us.
