Damien Delaney has replaced Curtis in midifeld and this has led to speculation about Curtis’ place in the squad. However, the Driffield orn player has denied any comments and says he wants to pledge his future to the Tigers.

Curtis has said: ‘I spoke to the gaffer the other day and he basically said I was unfortunate not to be in the team. He said as long as I worked hard and showed the right attitude in training – which I have – I’d get my chance again.

‘There is no problem. I’m disappointed not to be playing but it’s part and parcel of the game. I’m shocked that people are saying I want to go. I’m very happy here.

‘I wasn’t in the side at the start of the season so I know what the criteria is and I’ve got to work really hard to get back in the team. It’s taken me long enough to get to Hull so I’m not going to walk out after a few months, or whatever.’

Woodhouse had been a consistent performer, but after the 2-2 draw at Queens Park Rangers, the battling midfielder lost his place to Damien Delaney, moving from centre back to a new holding midfielder role which has seen the Tigers win there last two games against Cardiff City and Sheffield Wednesday.

Woodhouse is targeting to make a comebcak into the squad for tomorrow’s game at Brighton, but hopes he will be used over the busy Christmas period. The Tigers face four games in eight days before the F.A Cup game against Villa, and Curtis would like to play his part.

There are some big games. They are the games you want to be part of and it will be an exciting time for everyone at Hull City.

‘We’ve got a few players coming back from injury so that doesn’t make it any easier for me but if I do get back in, it’s down to me to take my chance.

‘Overall, we’ve had a big of an indifferent season so far but we’re putting a bit of a run together and we’ll look to establish ourselves. We’ve got a few games coming up against sides below us in the table so with all respect, we’ll be looking to take three points off them.’
