Manager Steve Bruce has said he’s pleased with the start we have made to the league season so far this campaign, and he’s also talked transfers.

Speaking to the Official Site with Hull taking four points from our opening two games, Bruce says had we taken all three against Stoke it would’ve made the start ‘wonderful’ but in any case it’s ‘good’ so far and about as much as he could’ve asked for.

‘We know how difficult the division is. Sometimes I have to give myself a slap and remember that we’ve only been back in this league for a year. We’re stood here disappointed that we’ve only drawn with Stoke having played for 80 minutes with ten men. I’m pleased with the start we’ve made. It could have been a wonderful start and it could’ve been six points from six. Who knows where those two points might have taken us?’

As for potential transfers following the confirmation of the arrival of Michael Dawson, Bruce added that the club are still close to one or two things coming off, and we are especially close to one deal that he feels will be ‘another fantastic addition’ if it can be pulled off, but obviously until it’s signed he’s not going to give anything away.

More specifically on Dawson, he said.

‘We’re delighted to get somebody of Michael’s experience and ability. I’ve always though, especially in the middle of defence, a little bit of experience does everybody the world of good. Michael has ability, leadership skills and he is a top professional. We’re delighted to have brought him here.’
