Will Keane’s chance to prove himself in the Premier League has been cut short just six-matches into his Hull career after the August signing from Manchester United suffered a season-ending injury against Southampton.

His knee injury in that win ahead of the international break means the striker will face up to 12-months on the sidelines.

The 23-year-old has undergone successful surgery after knee ligament damage with Mike Phelan telling the Official Website how much of a blow this is for all concerned but he’s backed Keane to come back strong.

‘To lose a player of Will’s quality and potential for such a long period of time is a big blow. I’m sure his determination and mindset will see him through the tough journey ahead.’

This isn’t the first time Keane’s suffered a serious, and long-term knee injury, as he also spend around a year out after being injury on international duty with England at youth level back in 2012 and he came back from that but Hull’s bid to stay in the Premier League will have to continue without him.
