The penultimate Hull pre-season friendly before the European adventure gets underway and the Europa League qualifier is played took place on Wednesday evening.

Steve Bruce took his side to York City’s Bootham Crescent and we were made to work hard by the league 2 side to earn the 2-0 win on the night.

Only two players were given the entire 90-minutes by Bruce, Allan McGregor and Conor Townsend, with everyone else that came off bar one replaced at half time after a goalless first half.

Defensive mistakes allowed both of Hull’s goals to be scored, Sone Aluko opening the scoring on 50-miinutes from 25-yard as York ‘keeper Michael Ingham allowed the ball to sneak under him and Yannick Sagbo adding the second just past the hour.

Pre-season is wrapped up with a trip to Barnsley’s Oakwell on Saturday.

Hull: Allan McGregor, Ahmed Elmohamady (Liam Rosenior 46), James Chester (Alex Bruce 46), Paul McShane (Curtis Davies 46), Conor Townsend, Robert Snodgrass (Sone Aluko 46), David Meyler (Tom Huddlestone 46), Stephen Quinn (Jake Livermore 46), George Boyd (Joe Dudgeon 68), Robbie Brady (Tom Ince 46), Shane Long (Yannick Sagbo 46)
Subs not used: Eldin Jakupovic
