Ipswich Town have confirmed that they are speaking to Hull City regarding the future of club record signing Jimmy Bullard.

The midfielder has spent the second half of the season on loan after joining Ipswich in January, and has impressed Paul Jewell to such an extent that the two clubs are discussing plans for next season.

Several newspaper reports have suggested that Bullard is willing to take a pay-cut in order to join Ipswich, with the midfielder having to take a sizeable reduction on his current £45,000 per week contract if he is to join Ipswich permanently.

Another option that has been suggested is that City loan Bullard to Ipswich again next season, although that may not represent good business for The Tigers.

Adam Pearson has already spoken openly about the problems Bullard`s wages will cause for the club next season, with the midfielder`s astronomical wage taking up 21% of next season`s total wage budget. Should City be able to offload Bullard permanently, Nigel Pearson is sure to be allowed to strengthen the team with the savings that will be made.

Bullard still has two years remaining on his City contract which could prove problematic if The Tigers are forced to settle the midfielder`s remaining contract before he concludes a transfer away from the club.
