Peter Taylor will fly out to take on a ‘chief scouting role’ to asses opponents in both the group stages and in any knock-out games that might be played.
Taylor is only making the trip on condition that his wife is also going to accompany him.
Taylor reckons that Engand have a great chance if they can keep all the key players fit.
‘I” cover any matches they want me to cover and it will be a great experience. I offered very early on to say that if they want me to do it, I’d be very happy to, but I would be taking my wife with me.’
Eriksson listed Taylor along with McClaren and Sammy Lee as potential sucessors to his job last month, and has wanted Taylor present in his set up since qualification was confirmed for England in the 2-1 victory over Poland.
Taylor will help current chief scout Tord Grip in forming reports on England’s opposition, meaning he will be looking at the likes of Paraguay, Sweeden and Trinidad and Tobago.
